The Fédération Genevoise des Musiques de Création (FGMC) is a non-profit association founded in 2019 at the instigation of professional musicians active in the field of creative music in Geneva.

Creative musicians are the working poor of culture. This is why the FGMC fights to obtain a real status, recognition and enhancement of the profession of musician.


Salary the musicians? It’s possible!

A working group led by the FGMC has just submitted its Feasibility study of an employee structure in the field of music in Geneva. This study, funded by the City and the Canton, explores the possibility for musicians to access employee status via a wage portage cooperative.

Conference in Bern and online on October 28

This study and the related issues (namely compliance with the AVS law which since 2010 has required payment to the first pillar for cultural professions, from the first franc) will be presented by Marco de Freitas and the FGMC during the conference Status and remuneration of artists and cultural actors, organized by the University of Geneva in Bern on October 28, 2022.

Fee Schedule Mandate

The FGMC is currently negotiating a mandate with the City and the Canton of Geneva in order to propose tariff recommendations for contemporary music in Geneva. This document must take stock of all scenarios, and propose reference prices that allow musicians to make a living from their profession, all styles combined. If you would like to join this working group, you are welcome.

The members of the committee are at your disposal for any questions during the information session. This allows you to discuss and answer questions relating to your situation as a musician, or that of the structures that support your projects.
